            On 4 June 2024 at the MFA, H.E. Ms. Sasirit Tangulrat, Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs, met with H.E. Mr. Kinzang Dorji, Ambassador of Bhutan to Thailand.

            Both sides discussed ways to enhance Thailand-Bhutan partnership with a view to promoting trade, tourism, and human resources development, especially as Bhutan regards Thailand as a key trading partner.  Both sides also highlighed the importance of expanding collaboration in the potential areas that remain untapped, in particular medical tourism and defence cooperation.  The Thai side welcomed the progress of Bhutan’s Gelephu Mindfulness City Project (GMC) which presents investment opportunities for Thai investors.

            The Thai side welcomed the upcoming official visit to Thailand of the Prime Minister of Bhutan later this month which would be his first official visit to Thailand in 11 years, and would commemorate the 35th anniversary of our diplomatic relations. The visit indeed help further strengthen the close ties between the two Kingdoms. The 6th Summit of BIMSTEC to be hosted in Thailand in September this year was also discussed.
