             On 28 October 2025, Mrs. Urasa Mongkolnavin, Director-General, Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs, and Mr. Nasser Awad AlGhanoom, General Director, Department of Asian Countries, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, co-hosted the Second Meeting of Political and Consular Committee of the Saudi-Thai Coordination Council (STCC) via teleconference. Representatives from various Thai authorities under the committee also joined the meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

              In preparation for the 2nd STCC meeting scheduled to be held in Riyadh in 2026, the meeting endorsed the progress of cooperation initiatives (Initiative Cards) under the Committee, as well as the prioritization of the Initiative Cards, namely Coordination and Cooperation in the Field of Politics, Enhancing the Intelligence Cooperation, and Cooperation in the Field of Diplomatic Training and Related Expertise.  In addition, both sides considered the Initiative Cards related to consular affairs and the draft Minutes of the Committee Meeting.

              The STCC serves as a main bilateral mechanism between Thailand and Saudi Arabia. It comprises five committees, including (1) Political and Consular Committee (2) Security and Military Committee (3) Cultural and Tourism Committee (4) Economic and Trade Committee (5) Investment Committee, with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both countries co-chairing the Political and Consular Committee.
