On 27 February 2026, H.E. Mrs. Urasa Mongkolnavin, Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs, participated in the Tree Planting Ceremony under the CICA Alley Initiative at the Centenary Park of Chulalongkorn University.

The event was jointly organized by the Institute of Asian Studies (IAS) of Chulalongkorn University, Thailand’s representative in the CICA Think Tank Forum, and the CICA Secretariat. It brought together diplomatic representatives from CICA Member States, ASEAN partners, and representatives from UN agencies based in Thailand, as well as senior University’s officials.

CICA Alley, initiated under the Kazakhstan’s chairmanship, links together the green initiatives with confidence building. The convening of the first CICA tree-planting ceremony marks a significant milestone in Thailand’s active fulfillment of its role as the coordinator for sustainable development and one of the co-coordinators for the development of small and medium enterprises (SME), along with the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Turkiye under the CICA Confidence Building Measures.

CICA is a multilateral forum established in 1992 under the initiative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to advance peace, security, and stability in Asia. The forum focuses on fostering cooperation across  five areas, namely, military-political, economic, environmental, new challenges and threats, and the human dimension. Thailand joined CICA as an official member in 2004.
