On 16 March 2026 at the MFA, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, received and discussed with H.E. Mr. Faiyaz Murshid Kazi, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Thailand, on ways to further strengthen bilateral relations between Thailand and Bangladesh, as well as to exchange views on regional and international issues.
Both sides welcomed the successful elections in their respective countries in early February. They reaffirmed the continued commitment to further enhancing cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the economic aspect, with substantial potential for expansion. Advancing negotiations on the Thailand–Bangladesh Free Trade Agreement and the opening of a shipping route between Ranong Port and Chittagong Port were also discussed.
In addition, they exchanged views on regional and international issues, including developments in Myanmar following its elections, and situation in the Middle East. Both sides underscored the importance of deepening cooperation both bilaterally and multilaterally to address security challenges affecting citizens of both countries, particularly the online scams.
