Between 26 - 28 February 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed H.E. Mr. Léon Kacou Adom, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Ivorians Abroad of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire on official visit to the Kingdom of Thailand at the invitation of H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs. The Ivorian Minister of Foreign Affairs led the delegation of 57 members of Ivorian public and private sectors, in this first official visit at the minister of foreign affairs level throughout the 59 years of Thailand - Côte d’Ivoire bilateral relations since 30 June 1966.

On 26 February 2025 - in the bilateral meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Foreign Ministers of Thailand and Côte d'Ivoire agreed to establish joint working groups to explore and deepen comprehensive cooperation in 3 areas: Food Security, Energy Security and Human Security, led by private sectors and civil societies, and with policy support from government agencies. The two Ministers also agreed upon the importance of a bilateral investment treaty (BIT) as a guarantee of confidence and an essential element in creating a favorable environment for trade and investment among entrepreneurs and investors from both sides. After the bilateral meeting,the Ministers signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the Establishment of the Bilateral Consultations Mechanism.

During this visit, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Côte d’Ivoire presided as the Guest of Honour over the Official Inauguration of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire to Thailand and the first Côte d'Ivoire - Thailand Business Forum hosted by the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire to Thailand. The Ivorian private sectors also visited Thai Eastern Group Holdings Public Company Limited (TEGH) and Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (CPF) in Chonburi, as well as met with the President of the Thai Chamber of Commerce.

This official visit to Thailand by the Minister of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire and the Ivorian Delegation marked a significant milestone in advancing Thai - Ivorian bilateral relations, enhanced opportunities, friendship and closer sustainable cooperation between the two countries, particularly in light of the 60th anniversary of Thailand - Côte d’Ivoire diplomatic relations in 2026.
