On 2 October 2025, Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, accompanied by Ms. Wanalee Lohpechra, Acting Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs attended the reception held in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Kingdom of Morocco, at the Bangkok Club, Sathorn Road, Bangkok.
In her opening remarks delivered jointly with H.E. Mr. Abderrahim Rahhaly, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Thailand, the Deputy Permanent Secretary underscored the enduring and cordial ties between the royal families of both kingdoms, as well as the multifaceted bilateral cooperation that has flourished over the past four decades. This includes collaboration in the fields of trade, academia, and cultural exchange, with particular emphasis on advancing economic partnerships and promoting tourism.
She also reaffirmed the Royal Thai Government’s commitment to deepening the bonds of friendship and cooperation with the Kingdom Morocco, including fostering closer people-to-people relations. In this regard, she highlighted Thailand’s visa exemption scheme for Moroccan nationals visiting Thailand for tourism purposes, allowing for stays of up to 60 days.
Diplomatic relations between Thailand and Morocco was established on 4 October 1985. Morocco is Thailand’s valued partner, and an important friend of Thailand in the North African region.
