On 21 May 2026, Mrs. Urasa Mongkolnavin, Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs, held discussions with H.E. Mr. Abderrahim Rahhaly, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to the Kingdom of Thailand.

Both sides exchanged views on ways to further enhance bilateral cooperation between Thailand and Morocco within the Thailand – Africa Initiative (TAI), particularly in the areas of trade and investment, education, training programmes and scholarships, tourism, as well as exchange of best practices to promote South-South and Triangular Cooperation.

On this occasion, the Director-General also expressed her appreciation to the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco for his commitment and dedication in his capacity as Dean of the Group of African Heads of Mission (HOMs) in Thailand in further strengthening relations between Thailand and Africa. She also commended the African HOMs on the successful hosting of the “Africa Day 2026.”
