On 23 May 2023, H.E. Mr. Obaid Saeed Obaid Bintaresh Aldhaheri, Ambassador-Designate of the United Arab Emirates to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Mr. Worawoot Pongprapapant, Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East, and African Affairs.

Both sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations including tourism, economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries and set a goal to achieve key deliverables such as a high-level visit, the 3^rd Joint Commission meeting and the conclusion of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) by the year 2024. On this occasion, H.E. the Director-General congratulated the UAE as the COP28 President and expressed his sincere appreciation for the UAE’s kind assistance in providing medical supplies to Thailand during Covid-19 and for its kind support for the evacuation operation of Thai nationals from Sudan early April 2023.
