On 20 January 2026, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, attended a reception of the Republic Day of India as the Chief Guest, and on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, presented congratulatory flower vase to H.E. Mr. Nagesh Singh, Ambassador of India to Thailand. In his remarks,  the Vice Minister underscored the long-standing ties between Thailand and India,  rooted in shared civilization, history, trade, religion, culture, and linguistics. He also expressed Thailand’s readiness to work closely with India in addressing pressing regional and global issues such as maritime security, human trafficking, cyber-related crime, and sustainable development, as well as to promote peace, stability, and prosperity for the benefit of the international community.

The Republic Day celebration also marks the 77th anniversary of the promulgation of the Constitution of India, a significant occasion in the contemporary Indian history and for her people.

This year also marks the 79th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and India. The leaders of two countries jointly elevated bilateral relations to Strategic Partnership on 3 April 2025 which will help enhance closer relations and multilateral cooperation in all dimensions.
