On 26 October 2023 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Worawoot Pongprapapant, Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East, and African Affairs, received Dr. Diary Ahmed Majid, Head of the Department of Asia and Australia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iraq, on the occasion of the latter’s visit to Thailand.

Both sides discussed ways to promote bilateral cooeperation in various areas of mutual interest, including the reopening of the Iraqi Embassy in Bangkok and the Royal Thai Embassy in Baghdad, the visa process for Iraqi nationals, the Fourth Thai-Iraqi Joint Trade Committee (JTC) to promote trade between the two countries, and people-to-people exchanges. The Director-General Worawoot also informed Dr. Majid of his plan to lead a business delegation to Iraq this December, to which Dr. Majid expressed his support.
