                On 13 March 2024 H.E. Mr. Dhan Bahadur Oli, Ambassador of Nepal to Thailand paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Worawoot Pongprapapant, Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs on the occasion of the Ambassador’s assumption of duty.

                Both sides welcomed the positive developments in Thailand - Nepal relations, in particular the increase in investment of Thai companies in Nepal, the number of Nepali students obtaining higher education in Thailand, and the resumption of Thai Airways’ flight operations to Kathmandu. Director-General Worawoot also expressed appreciation to the Nepali side for facilitating Thai investment in Nepal and encouraged both sides to strengthen their efforts to promote business interaction and activities with each other.

                Both sides also exchanged views on ways to further enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including trade and investment, tourism, agriculture, education, and technical cooperation. They also took the opportunity to discuss cooperation in the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) framework, of which Thailand is the current Chair.
