             On 17 September 2024, H.E. Mr. Faiyaz Murshid Kazi, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Thailand paid a courtesy call on H.E. Ms. Sasirit Tangulrat, Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs, on the occasion of the Ambassador’s assumption of duty.

             Both sides welcomed  the dynamic and constructive bilateral ties, covering multi-dimensional areas of cooperation. In this regard, both sides reaffirmed the commitment to further strengthen the relations between Thailand and Bangladesh, especially in pursuing economic collaboration and people-to-people connection for the mutual benefits of our peoples.  Furthermore, both sides agreed that a Thailand - Bangladesh FTA and establishing connectivity beween Chittagong Port and Ranong Port would open up new opportunities in trade and investment.

             Both sides also took this opportunity to exchange views on each other’s domestic politics, and reiterated the readiness to elevate collaboration in various areas including cyber security, anti-human trafficking, and education.  In addition, views were exchanged on ways to advance cooperation within the BIMSTEC framework to foster regional connectivity, as BIMSTEC will be a key platform in further expanding cooperation in multiple areas.
