Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Embassy of the State of Libya to Thailand pays a farewell call on the Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs

On 14 August 2026, Mr. Ashoor Salem Ashoor Omran, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Embassy of the State of Libya to Thailand paid a farewell call on Mrs. Urasa Mongkolnavin, Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs, upon the completion of his tenure in Thailand.

The Director-General expressed her appreciation to the Chargé d’Affaires for his contribution to the promotion of Thailand–Libya relations throughout his tenure in Thailand.  She reaffirmed the importance of Africa in Thailand’s foreign policy, particularly through the Thailand–Africa Initiative (TAI). The Director-General also expressed her appreciation to the Libyan side for granting the agrément for the appointment of the Ambassador of Thailand to Egypt as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Thailand to the State of Libya, with residence in Cairo, noting that this would help further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. The Director-General wished the Chargé d’Affaires every success in his new role.

The Chargé d’Affaires expressed his appreciation for the friendship and support extended by the Thai side throughout his six years of service in Thailand. He emphasised that Thailand is an important partner of Libya and reaffirmed his commitment to continuing to support the further strengthening of relations and cooperation between Libya and Thailand.
