Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs attended the event entitled “50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Kenya and Thailand”

On 23rd November 2017, the Embassy of the Republic of Kenya in Thailand, in collaboration with Kenya Airways and Krungthai Card Public Company Limited, organized the event entitled “50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Kenya and Thailand” at the Krungthai Card PCL. Head Office. H.E. Patrick Simiyu Wamoto, Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya to the Kingdom of Thailand, together with Mr. Krerkpan Roekchamnong, Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs, attended and delivered welcoming remarks at the event. Furthermore, there was a Thai cultural performance sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and a Kenyan acrobatic show sponsored by the Embassy of Kenya, showcasing the vibrant culture from each country during the event. Mr. Pongpol Adireksarn, former Thai Foreign Minister and famous novelist, along with his daughter were also invited to speak about their safari experiences in Kenya. 

Thailand and Kenya established diplomatic relations on 25th July 1967. For the past 5 decades, Thailand and Kenya have maintained cordial relations and joined hands in a wide range of areas of cooperation such as trade, investment, tourism, and development cooperation, among others. As a reflection of the close and friendly relations between Thailand and Kenya, the Royal Thai Embassy in Nairobi also organized an event in celebration of this momentous occasion of the 50th Anniversary of Kenyan – Thai Diplomatic Relations on 7th September 2017 at Nairobi National Museum.
